The following members were recipients of certificates:
• Hannes van Wyk in recognition of his dedication and
assistance with the scoring of the Porsche Club South
Africa - Central 2019 Concours.
• Heather Sarkis and Ina Viljoen in recognition of their
continued commitment as unofficial photographers for
the Porsche Club South Africa - Central.
• Certificates were also awarded to Chris Smit, Glenn
Schoeman and Heather Sarkis in recognition of their dedication and participation in Porsche Club South Africa - Central events in 2019.
The awards ceremony was followed by a charity auction during which ten vintage posters and one original painting were auctioned. The posters were reproduced from print advertising campaigns starting in the late 1950s - especially for the event
- from the digital archives in Stuttgart. These iconic advertisements contributed to Porsche being considered as the leading sports car brand.
The beneficiary of the auction was Little Eden Society. This registered non-profit organisation provides life-long care for 300 children and adults with profound intellectual disabilities. Due to the generous support of the successful bidders, over R60 000 was raised towards helping kids and adults with mental challenges. It goes to show that Porsche Club members have big hearts.
Marcato band and the DJ led the guests to dance the night away. Between the dancing, the wine and new friendships, it was indeed a Porsche night to remember. As Fred Rogers said, “An evening can be as brief as the twinkling of an eye yet such twinklings is what eternity is made of ”.
