T he COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent business lockdown had a huge impact on sports, including Rugby. As a result, Loftus Versfeld Stadium was not
able to host the Porsche Loftus event this year.
This lockdown and the cancellation of various events also had a huge impact on fundraising activities of various charities including the charity of choice for Porsche Loftus Day, namely, The Chris Burger, Petro Jackson Players Fund. As such the committee of the Porsche Loftus day elected to hand over a donation of R 25 000 to Dyllan Bennecke who represented the fund. Porsche Loftus enthusiasts were invited to witness the handover and enjoy a picnic on Sunday 20 Sept 2020. A good representation of Porsches of all ages were present during the handover.
Tori Gardner, Marketing Manager of the Chris Burger & Petro Jackson Players fund, wrote “We acknowledge that this donation is even more meaningful given the severe effects of the Global COVID-19 pandemic on business and financial circumstances of so many. At the Players’ Fund, we have had to work hard with our recipients to ensure that their vital needs are cared for with “nice-to-haves” being
temporarily held back as we too wait for the storm to pass. We are however grateful for strong leadership, and a dedicated board who have given the Fund solid foundations which we are confident will help us through”.
Thank you to all who attended the day, we are looking forward to meeting at Loftus in 2021 in a style we are accustomed to.
