dinner, some of our die-hards led by Albert Du Bois and Bill Blair remained while the rest called it a night.
Saturday morning was ‘show and shine’ time. The cars had to be ready for judging at 08:00. Some members gave new meaning to the term ‘unfaltering determination.’ Beverley Ludick was up from 4 cleaning, buffing and shining. Her yellow Boxster was already glimmering in the sunlight, once the first stragglers (by comparison) started arriving from 06:30.
The event produced some stunning clean cars. Beverley was not finished yet, she and Dave set up a
Boxster information display around her car. Not to be outdone, Bill Blair literally rolled out a red carpet for the judges next to his white Turbo S, that just so happened to feature an ice bucket, champagne and glasses.
After breakfast we made our way
to Haenertsburg . The curving road was perfect for testing the Porsche road-holding performance and did not disappoint. In Haenertsburg, the Porsches were parked opposite the police station under the watchful eyes of a guard, and everyone hopped onto ‘Boke tour buses’ to allow us to explore a little further off the beaten track.
First stop - Cheerio Gardens, here
members could explore the spectacular scenery.
Some members took the opportunity to enjoy a cold beverage along the banks of the scenic dam. All agreed that a walk in nature is always good for the soul, especially after the trials of lockdown.
Next stop - Zwakala Brewery to sample some of the 2019 award- winning lagers and enjoy gin-on- tap and the old-style pub grub.
On return to Fairview the evening kicked off with a gin tasting sponsored by Old Packhouse Distillery. Mark Dando (the owner)
