Pro Bono Project of New Orleans, and The Parole
Project.
▪ The 2021 ATJ Internship Program is set in motion with
two sponsoring organizations and schools; the program
did lose two sponsors for 2021. The working group is set
to meet and develop a strategy to return the 2022
program to all four Louisiana law schools.
▪ The 2021 ATJ Internship program will host 3 interns this
year and will begin on Monday, May 17th and run until
Friday, June 25th. The interns will spend time with: The
Baton Rouge Bar Foundation, The Parole Project, Judge
Cashe with the 21st JDC, Judge Woodruff White with
the East Baton Rouge Family Court, Judge Tim Marcel
in the 29tht JDC, the Justice & Accountability Center,
Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, The New Orleans
Pro Bono Project and Louisiana Appleseed.
o Participate in LSU Apprenticeship Week
The ATJ program participated in the 2019 & 2020 LSU
Apprenticeship week with a course titled Serving the Public and
the Profession.
o Coordinate outreach on children’s and disability law job
opportunities
▪ Members of the Children’s Law and LSPD Committees
offered interview skills trainings for law students at
Tulane University, at Loyola University, and at LSU’s
Apprenticeship week.
▪ The LSU Public Interest Law Society has volunteered to
update the Family Law Training manual created at the
beginning of the pandemic for the benefit of civil legal
aid and volunteer attorneys.
▪ Members of the Children’s Law and LSPD Committees
hosted skills training for law students at Tulane Law
School. Members of both Committees are working with
Loyola Law School to host a similar training.
▪ Members of the Children’s Law Committee are working
with Loyola Law School to host a training on trauma-
informed representation for law students.
▪ Research methods to increase attorney/legal volunteerism and
develop initiatives and best practices;
Researched other states’ Emeritus rules to provide the Supreme Court
with information for the revision of the LSBA Emeritus Rule.
