under-represented in  the legal profession  to  pursue legal  careers; and increase advancement
               opportunities  for  lawyers  who  have  been  historically  under-represented  in  a  particular  job
               setting or practice area of the legal profession.

               2. The Guardian of Diversity Award now bears the new name “Louisiana State Bar Association
               Guardian  of  Diversity  Award.”  It  will  be  awarded  by  the  Association  annually  at  the  LSBA
               Annual meeting.

               The Guardian of Diversity Award shall recognize exceptional efforts of bar associations, courts,
               law  firms/departments,  and  community  organizations  (non-profits  and  public  interest
               organizations)  within  the  state  of  Louisiana  that  demonstrated  a  sustained,  long  term
               commitment to encouraging, increasing and/or retaining diversity in the legal profession.

               The criteria is as follows:
               Creating and implementing innovative strategies to promote and advance the concept and spirit
               of diversity and inclusion in society;
               Making a significant impact on diversity issues in the legal profession;
               Advocating and promoting an understanding and awareness of diversity;
               Dedication to improving and bridging the relationship between diverse groups;
               Proven commitment to creating a culture of diversity and inclusion.

               Nomination period: October – February

               3. The Committee on Diversity in the Legal Profession shall recognize a current member (all
               categories of membership) of the Committee who has demonstrated a commitment to diversity
               and  has  gone  above  and  beyond  their  role  on  the  committee  to  address  the  needs  of
               underrepresented  groups  or  public  interest  causes.   This  individual  should  demonstrate  an
               ongoing commitment to the Committee through their appreciation, connection, and respect for all
               facets of diversity and make active contributions to the betterment of the greater community as
               an agent for social change.

               The criteria is as follows:

               A current  member of the Committee on Diversity  in  the Legal  Profession must nominate the
               individual;
               The recipient is to be selected by the current chair(s) of the Committee on the Diversity in the
               Legal Profession;
               The recipient may receive the award once in his/her lifetime;
               Enhances inclusion through positive communication between persons of different backgrounds;
