Apprenticeship week with a course titled Serving the Public and
the Profession. We plan to participate again in January 2020.
The ATJ Staff will conduct a course for the LSU Apprentice
week. (Jan 6-10, 2020)
Due to COVID-19, LSU Apprenticeship Week 2020 has been
cancelled.
Due to COVID-19, LSU Apprenticeship Week 2021 was also
cancelled.
o Coordinate outreach on children’s and disability law job
opportunities
▪ Members of the Children’s Law and LSPD Committees
offered interview skills trainings for law students at
Tulane University, at Loyola University, and at LSU’s
Apprenticeship week.
▪ The LSU Public Interest Law Society has volunteered to
update the Family Law Training manual created at the
beginning of the pandemic for the benefit of civil legal
aid and volunteer attorneys.
▪ Members of the Children’s Law and LSPD Committees
hosted a skills training for law students at Tulane Law
School. Members of both Committees are working with
Loyola Law School to host a similar training.
▪ Research methods to increase attorney/legal volunteerism and
develop initiatives and best practices;
Researched other states’ Emeritus rules to provide the Supreme Court
with information for the revision of the LSBA Emeritus Rule.
▪ Relaunch the Louisiana Civil Justice Center (LCJC) to work with other
stakeholders to provide civil legal services;
LCJC services are missed during times of disaster response.
However, we have worked with civil legal aid providers to develop
mechanisms to provide services formerly conducted by LCJC.
Providers have shown no interest in relaunching LCJC and no funding
seems to exist to do so.
▪ Educate and increase awareness among judges and judicial staff;
o Outreach to Judiciary
▪ Participated in judicial outreach at Family, Juvenile and
City Court Judges Conference, and LSBA Annual
Meeting with LDJA past president Judge Randow.
