INSERTING AND REMOVING THE ARTIFICIAL
EYE Insertion
Take the glass eye in one hand holding it in the position of the
focal point. Then, with the other hand lift the eye lid and slide
now the prosthetic under the upper eye lid and hold the prosthetic
with the hand until a gentle pull on the lower eye lid (with the
other hand) lets the prosthetic slid into the eye cavity. If
necessary, correct the position with a slight pressure with a
finger. This would remove any air bubbles that might have been

trapped. .
Removing
The shell should be removed by looking
upwards. To remove, press the lower eye
lid down, until you see the edge of the
shell. Slide the tip of your pointer finger
under the lower edge of the prosthetic
and together with the middle finger hold
the artificial eye and pull it downwards
out of the eye cavity. It is also possible to
get a small hook-like instrument from
your ocularist for removing the shell.
