scholarship. Jennifer was one of seven Fort
Irwin military family members who entered
this year’s world-wide competition, which last
year awarded 700 scholarships last year from
among 4,000 entries.

Jennifer was selected because of her “meri-
torious achievements in academic studies,
citizenship, school and community activities
and leadership,” as well as her essay on child-
hood obesity and its e ect on military recruit-
ment. e scholarship, administered through
the Fisher House Foundation, was sponsored
by Post Holdings, Inc., which manufactures a
variety of cereal foods.

Jennifer will use the scholarship to defray
her expenses at Victor Valley Community
College, where she is now a student. She is the
daughter of David and Marybel Gray. Jennifer’s
father is a retired sta sergeant who served at
the NTC emergency operations center in the
early 1990’s. Her mother is a certi ed nursing
assistant at the Barstow Veterans Home.
