The COVID-19 pandemic presented a number of challenges. Ben and Daniel responded with ingenuity and achieved exceptional results in the process.
There was an immediate business need to support people working from home and this presented a huge IT challenge. In conjunction with the Group IS Team, Ben was able to deliver remote capability to a cohort of workers, enabling BPS to operate its central functions remotely. At all times, information remained entirely secure. The team maintained an external ‘business as usual’ stance at a time when many others were struggling to cope. To achieve this technical feat with minimal disruption to our business was triumph enough, but to then follow up with ‘how to’ guides and tutorials for all key users within the next 48 hours was a monumental effort.
Daniel’s leadership skills have come to the fore during the pandemic. He has gained employees’ confidence and trust by allaying fears and concerns. Implementing daily meetings and one to ones when necessary, Daniel has led the narrative, successfully delivering the company communications to the factory floor, irrespective of the time of day. Factory personnel have been kept fully engaged and focused, with messaging driving home the importance of high hygiene standards and social distancing.
Ben and Daniel communicate with clarity and transparency and are shining examples of our Stronger Together value in action.

This quarter we recognise the contribution made by the nominated individuals within the ARW IT team and Ben James, Condiments and Sauces. They are all worthy recipients of this joint award, as they kept our business operational, ensuring our teams had the appropriate technology to work remotely from their homes. As a business, we are doing everything we can to safeguard our employees, suppliers and customers during the Coronavirus pandemic. The IT Team and Ben have done an outstanding job over the last few months facilitating home working solutions for hundreds of employees. They have demonstrated all of our SPIRIT values, but it is their dedication to the business to deliver technical solutions to the highest of standards, working under very tight deadlines, that has truly impressed the judges. A stellar performance.
We would like to commend you all for living and sharing our SPIRIT values in such uncertain times.
