Last year volunteers invested 24,120 hours at St. John’s Pleasant
Valley Hospital and 37,456 hours at St. John’s Regional Medical
Center; the total labor equivalent of $1,426,473.
Human connections in caring for others
“When I was in the business world I worked very hard and my reward was a Flowers

A hospital requires many hands to function smoothly, and volunteers are an busy with flowers, artfully arranging mini bud vases for patient trays and
extension of staff, helping to provide the services, products and environment
that help to make our hospitals such extraordinary places. Volunteers make a
difference at St. John’s Hospitals. They work in many areas of the hospital and
offer the human connection that is so necessary when patients and families
are at their most vulnerable. Walking a patient’s family to the cafeteria, offering
a box of tissues to someone in grief, listening to a new mother’s concerns, or
comforting an elderly patient who is alone – experiences had all in the day of
a volunteer.
We are immensely grateful for their generous spirit and for their commitment
