General Sorkin has aimed his binoculars in the direction 
of the silos.
HIS POINT OF VIEW THROUGH BINOCULARS: In the 
distance, the First Nuke Specialist is now climbing out of 
the silo and running for his life across the concrete field.
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: (shouts out window) Cowards! 
Deserters! COME BACK HERE!
In the room, Lt. Wharton and the two M.P.'s are worried.
LOUD RUNNING FOOT- STEPS are heard approaching 
from the hallway.
LT. WHARTON
: I believe he's here, sir --.
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN (turns, inflamed) Damn right he's 
here! Come on. We're soldiers, aren't we? Let's do OUR 
JOB!
His eyes are shining. He reaches into his desk drawer for 
a revolver at the same time General Yeager appears in the 
doorway with a machine gun.
The opposing groups just stare at each other for a 
moment, each waiting for the other's first move.
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN
: Why don't you shoot, General? Just 
as soon get It this way as from a goddamn ICBM.
GEN.YEAGER
: Disarm the bombs. Immediately.
MAJ. GEN. SORKIN: Disarm them?! Hey! We don't know 
how! Their god- damn computers are OBSOLETE! CAN 
YOU BELIEVE THAT, GENERAL? OBSO- FUCKING- 
LETE! Well -- that's technology for you.
