        automotive industry is experiencing strikes, and tiered
        suppliers are making difficult decisions about layoffs. This
        undoubtedly creates unprecedented challenges to the
        ecosystem that we cherish. Many of our students were
        scheduled to visit these facilities.

        When we think of manufacturing in Michigan, let’s
        remember to include aerospace and defense; steel and
        metal fabrication; plastics and wood manufacturing;
        pharmaceuticals; biotechnology; medical devices; and so
        much more.
