Futures

• Futures can be used for a variety of purposes:

- Lock-in prices for participants for future delivery

- Futures/commodities are used by companies that sell cereal,

gasoline, crude oil, heating oil, metals, grains, coffee, sugar, etc.

- Speculation or active trading for a profit

- Provides a “Hedge” against future prices
