Double reeving line bend

Although the seizings in the reeving line bend should provide all the Strength
security you need, there are occasions when an extra hitch on each Security
part might be needed. Mainly, this will be when using extremely Diffi culty Tying
slippery line – eg high modulus rope such as Dyneema and Spectra. Diffi culty Untying

A traditional knot for modern lines? Why not!
1 Tie a pair of hitches in the standing part of each
line, as for the reeving line bend, then add a second
hitch in each line. Allow enough spare line to make
the seizing.
2 Seize each end to the other line’s standing part,
either with a temporary seizing, such as a constrictor
knot (page 38), or a permanent seizing, such as those
shown on pages 254–255.
4 Adjust the hitches so the
legs are the same length,
and secure the ends with
a seizing, as specifi ed
in the panel above.
