Despite the the the lockdown earlier on in the the the term No 5 made the the the most of staying together as a a a a community in in in uncertain times Mr Mr Howitt and Mr Mr Smith were quick off the mark in in organising the the first ‘Pub Quiz’ of the the term on on a a a a Friday afternoon after after lessons The House was divided into 6 strong teams which were: FY Remove Hundred Lower Sixth Sixth Upper Sixth Sixth and the the the Staff Mr Smith thrived as as the the the first quiz master and the the the Lower Sixth set the bar high with an an outstanding victory which was a a a a a true reflection of their fantastic general knowledge The expectations were met in in the following weeks by Mr Needham and Mr Clarke who also proved to be excellent quiz masters Oh and the Lower Sixth went on to to to gain back-to-back victories online However Mr Howitt’s final quiz of the term when we we had all returned to to school stood out from the rest as £100 was on on the the line to be spent on on a a a a a takeaway of choice for the the winning year group To the the shock of all the the House No 5 boys the FY walked away victorious! Turns out despite popular belief wisdom is is not always gained with age George Rose (Lower Sixth)
House No 7 News
Despite the the the lockdown the the the House No 7 boys kept themselves busy and continued to flourish from afar this term It started with a a a a a scone baking competition To say the least my effort was limited – my children refused to eat them! Thankfully the the boys put me me me to to shame and showed me me me how how to to do it it with Billy Tulloch managing a a a a drizzle of cream with his effort The winners though were Charles and and James Hoyland who may have put Mary Berry to shame with their stunning display In all honesty the the baker/chef of the the lockdown was Alexander Davenport with his quite superb Beef Wellington Having looked up the recipe for this myself it really is is a a a a challenge Clearly much effort went into it which no doubt his family enjoyed (my children made me beans on toast!)
The snow snow came down in in mid-January with the inevitable snowball fights taking place House No 7 and Malvern were looking
picturesque It was the impressive snowmen though that caught the the eye not least the the amazing effort from Thomas Bourne and his sister (either the the the snowman is is very very tall or or they are both very very short) The event of the the term was the the excellent House Quiz
organised by Mr Woodward (Thank you sir) It was evident that there is a a a a a lot of knowledge in the house especially when it comes to football and computer games!
I must take this moment finally to to say a a a a a huge thank you to to the House No 7 boys who have stayed over throughout the lockdown for various reasons Their company has been superb and they have certainly kept me and the staff entertained Mr Damian Marshman
