Sport
Following the half term break it has been fantastic to get back to playing sport on campus There has been the opportunity for students to to take part in several sports and we have managed to to complete a a a a virtual cross-country fixture as as well as as inter-house competitions (in year group bubbles) in in cross-country football hockey and netball Cross-Country
Cheltenham College Virtual 3k Invitational
On the the weekend of of the the 26th and 27th of of February we we competed in a a a a a a Virtual Fixture against Cheltenham College College and Clifton College College in in a a a a a a a 3k race Overall we had 52 runners including staff and won a a a a a a a resounding victory with Cheltenham College in in second and Clifton in third Notable performances
U14s:
Joe Stocks Rusheel Joshi and Sam Clements all finishing fin in in the top 4 U16s:
Arthur Middleton Tommy Boorman and Archie Bailey in the top six U18s:
Oliver Cox Lakshya Joshi and Will Waterhouse in the top three Staff:
Three staff in in in in the the top 7 including the the overall winner Mr Metcalfe with Mr Mr Lanfear fourth and Mrs Hooper-West in seventh Junior Ledder
Prior to the the the Half-term break the the the students competed in the the the Virtual Junior Ledder
First in the Girls’ Race was Emma Youngs of House No 4 with a time of 20 minutes 56 seconds followed by Isabella Upjohn of House No 4 in in 23 minutes 02 seconds The winning Boy was Jack Randall of of School House with a a a a a time of of 20 minutes 21 seconds He was followed by Joseph Stocks of House No 5 with a a time of 20 minutes and 27 seconds House House No No 4 4 won the Girls’ Race with with 14 points with with House House No No 6 following with 23 points School House won the Boys’ Race with 37 points followed by House No 5 with 43 points During the afternoon of Saturday 20th March and on on Tuesday 23rd March the the the students had a a a a a chance to ‘fly their their flags for their their Houses’ and competed in various House competitions It was great to see some some competition happening across the sports something we have all all missed Thank you to all all the marshals umpires and referees and of of course the the organisers of of the the different events for a a a brilliant week week and weekend of sport!
Inter-House Football
Saturday 20th March saw the Senior boys taking part in in a a a a a a a House Football
competition Well done to all all of the the boys the the afternoon’s matches were played in in a a a a good spirit and everyone involved enjoyed themselves – some of the the the goals weren’t bad either! The results for the the Upper Sixth competition were were as follows: House No 5 were were the the winners with School House House in in in second place and House House No 9 in in in third place The Lower Sixth competition saw School House finish fin in first place place place House House No No 5 in in second place place place and House House No No 9 in in third place place place It was the the the turn of the the the Junior boys the the the following Tuesday in in a a a competition that did not disappoint no no fewer than 40 goals were scored across the the year group competitions In the the Remove competition House House No No 5 were the winners with House House No No 2 in in second place place with School House in third place place The FY competition saw House House No No 1 1 finish fin in in 1st place place House House No No 2 fin in in second place place and House No 9 in third place Inter-House Boys’ Hockey
While the the Seniors battled it it out in the the House Football
competition on on Saturday afternoon the Juniors enjoyed an Inter-House Hockey
competition All games were were played in great spirit and the boys were were a a a a real credit to each house Both FY and Remove competitions were well contested and although not all boys have played hockey hockey this term the standard of hockey hockey was great to watch with a a a a a a a few outstanding goals as as well as as some brilliant saves from the the goalkeepers The winners of the the Remove Goalkeeping competition was Jasper Cleaver (House No 5) with Will Hooper (House No 2) winning the FY goalkeeping competition The winners of of the the Remove competition were House No 5 The winners of of the the FY competition were House No 2 The following Tuesday it it was the the turn of the the Seniors in in a a a competition that was hotly contested In the Hundred competition House No No 9 were the winners with House House No No 2 and School House House finishing second and third respectively In the Lower Sixth competition House House No 2 were the winners with School House House and House No 5 in in joint 2nd place In the Upper Sixth competition House House No No 9 were resounding winners with House House No No 1 in in in second place place and School House in third place place 28
