SHOW REPORT
Bus Types was held over the Easter weekend at Oswestry Showground. The Club Shop and Promo Stand were manned by Myself, Derek, Val, Malcolm and of course, Abbie. Derek and I hadn’t been to this show before, but we enjoy travelling to di erent parts of the UK with the opportunity to meet up with members.
Our T5 was loaded to the hilt, so an overnight stay to split up the journey wasn’t an option. We had planned to reach the showground by 12 noon, but combining the Good Friday tra c with a delayed departure meant that we had to source an alternative cross country route to that originally planned.
For those who might enjoy our progress on a map, we side stepped Oxford, drove via Witney, Stow on the Wold, Evesham, Worcester and onto Kidderminster. From there we took a circular tour of Stourport on Severn (thanks to “Margo” our Sat-Nav and eventually got on the way with an AA road map onto Bridgnorth and eventually Shrewsbury, with Oswestry Showground in sight shortly after.
On arrival to the show entrance we me a long slow moving line of Transporters as trade did not have a separate entrance, but once were
in, we were greeted and escorted to our pitch by happy, smiling Bus Types crew. Val and Malcolm were on site with gazebo number one in position, so it was time to empty the T5 and get gazebo number 2 up and dressed. The gazebos were decorated with black and yellow bunting, club signage recycled from old club sail and a nal touch of yellow table cloths, all lovingly made by Val over the winter. Val had also crafted some beautiful shopping bags which enhanced the Club shop nicely, when did she nd time for house work & cooking?! The nale was raising three club ags, making the club very visible.
The Saturday dawned dry and sunny and after a restful night we were up raring to go.
Although we saw very little of the show itself due to the trading, there was something for everyone. Plenty of VW’s, live music and disco,
