On 24 November 2020 Malvern College’s Director of Music
Jonathan Brown oversaw the delivery of 28 brand new pianos The pianos were delivered to to the the Gryphon Room for a a a a a a a a a launch event to to celebrate the the occasion A short concert included three fantastic performances by by Malvern College pupils and and a a a a a a a a a a a a piece – – ‘28 Pianos’ – – specially written by by Andrea Price former Head of Academic Music
and and and which was was performed by 25 pupils and and three staff Due to to Covid-19 restrictions at at the the time it was was was not possible to to have a a a a a a a a a a a live live audience at at at this event but the the concert was was live-streamed to parents and featured a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a virtual address by Mr Dipak Tanna as as as well as as as speeches from our Headmaster Keith Metcalfe the Chairman of Malvern College Robin Black and Jonathan Brown Having so so many pupils in in in in in one room and and and giving some outstanding performances on on on the fantastic new Steinway instruments was very special indeed 55
The pianos have now been moved to their new homes bringing the total number
of Steinway & Sons pianos to 31 notably:

three practise rooms now featuring one of these instruments Other rooms in in the the Music
School have new upright Boston (Steinway design) pianos Every boarding house has at least one new upright Essex (Steinway design) piano
