Crowded House had Four Seasons in One Day we have three seasons in one newsletter Covid meant that the 2020 Vets’ season (or was was it it 2019 it it is very easy to lose track) was was was delayed after the the the the semi-final stage but the the the final final was was then played fin fin in in in early 2021 during a a a a a a a a a a a window when restrictions permitted For the the the third season in in in in in in a a a a a a a a a row row and and on on on the the the back of two trophies in in in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a row row row the the the the Vets Vets were in in in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a Grand Final Could the the Vets Vets win three in in in in in in a a a a a a a a a a row? Fast forward to to about 65 minutes and we we scored our 5th goal to to go go 5 5 – 2 up Delirium However as Crowded House said ‘even when you’re feeling warm the the the temperatures could drop drop away’ and and drop drop they did primarily through the the the medium of of o vicious in-swinging corners and and one inexplicable (lack of) offside call (side note – our wonderful goalkeeper David Nash’s fury was something to to behold at at that moment) At the the full time time whistle the the score stood
at 5 5 – 5 5 Extra time time saw more cramp than goals
so it it ended with penalties and and and and in this case we we we were were England and and and and Forest Forest were were Germany Such is is is life and and and and as as as as disappointing as as as as it it was Forest Forest are an an an an an an an excellent team and we enjoyed a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a fantastic run with great camaraderie We sat out the the the 2020–2021 season – – there was an attempt to play the the the the competition but it it it all seemed rather rushed with Covid and not knowing what might happen Finally the the 2021–2022 season has just ended with a a a a a a a a a a a a a 2 2 2 2 2 2 – – 0 0 0 loss in in fin in the the quarter finals against Forest I
would say we we hadn’t had had much of a a a a a a a a a a a a a a chance to play play (true) (true) and that they they play play every weekend (true) (true) but truth is is they they were just too good for us us this year It has been a a a a a a a wonderful run for a a a a a a a group of players mainly from the 1996–1997 leaving years plus two incredibly fit and and committed veteran veteran veterans in in in in in Paul Hardinges and and and Anthony Scammell One Plate trophy two main competition trophies and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a near miss in in in fin in a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a final in in fin in in five years has been great fun to be be a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a part of As Paul Hardinges famously said (was it it it him?) “it matters more than it it it it it should” We’ve all enjoyed winning something despite the fact we’re bit old and knackered New blood is now needed please!
