• • • • • • Understand the difference between random pattern pattern flaps flaps axial pattern pattern flaps flaps and and free skin grafts based on on vascular anatomy and and practical application Choose an appropriate surgical surgical technique to close traumatic or surgical surgical skin defects in various anatomical locations
Select a a a a local skin flap to close a a a a defect Perform axial pattern flaps with confidence – practise some of the following (time allowing)
– Caudal auricular
– Omocervical
– Thoracodorsal
– Reverse saphenous – Superficial brachial
– Dorsal iliac
– Caudal – Scrotal
– Genicular
– Cranial/caudal superficial epigastric
Create a a a a a a a a free skin graft and and understand how to to manage them to to maximise their chances of success Use negative pressure wound therapy with confidence to speed up wound healing
