Understanding the Divine Secrets
Chapter 7: The Remnants
In the Old Testament the remnant is the small number of people that are left behind after the siege or captivity. Remnants are also the survivors of the arrows of destruction. They remain behind by the grace and divine plan of God and probably their holy character. So, to be alive after everybody has died is a great privilege that should not be taken for granted at all cost. Isaiah 1:9 reminds us that:
Unless the Lord of hosts Had left to us a very small remnant, We would have become like Sodom, We would have been made like Gomorrah.
The very fact that Isaiah cries out to God for the remnant suggests it must be a serious issue in the plan of God. Again the LORD talks about the reason why his people are gone into captivity in Isaiah 5:13:
