Camping Knots: Moving Hitches

This knot is an excellent method of keeping
a tent line taut between the tent and an anchor
or for tying a tight line between two trees from
which a bear bag can be hung. It also works
well for securing gear or a canoe to the top of a
vehicle. Once learned, campers—and climbers and
boaters—tend to wonder how they ever got along
                     without the trucker’s hitch.
