he University of Waterloo
is widely known for its
innovation, research and
co-ope rative program.
Howeve r, an
underestimated aspect of our
school is the up and coming
varsity teams. Typically viewed
as the underdog, the Waterloo
Warriors are quickly turning the
narrative around.

The long-term rivalry between
the neighbouring Warriors and
Golden Hawks has generally been
a one-sided contest in favour of
the Hawks. However, for the first
time in 16 years, the Warriors
football team claimed victory in
the “Battle of Waterloo” defeating
Laurier in December of 2018. Led
by a trio of All-Canadian players
the culture of the program is
changing and so is the narrative.
