event whether on property owned, rented, or maintained by the Board of
Education or property owned, rented, or maintained by another party.
The code is also applicable to misconduct by a student that occurs off of
property owned or controlled by the District but that is connected to
activities or incidents that have occurred on property owned or controlled
by the District and Misconduct by a student that, regardless of where it
occurs, is directed at a District official or employee or the property of a
District official or employee. This policy also applies to any student,
whether or not the student is enrolled in the District, attending or
otherwise participating in any curricular program provided in the school
or provided on any other property owner or controlled by the Board.

Additionally, the provisions of this code shall apply to students if the
prohibited act(s) takes place while on properties immediately adjacent to
school property, within the line of sight of school property, on school
transportation, or if the act adversely affects the operation of the schools.

Violation by a student of any one or more of the following rules of
conduct may result in disciplinary action(s), which may include
detention, in school suspension, parental contact, referral to legal
authorities, emergency removal, disciplinary removal, suspension,
expulsion, or permanent exclusion. A student may be suspended
pending the outcome of expulsion proceedings.

             A. Any act or seriously-threatened act of physical violence
                      whereby the perpetrator causes, attempts to cause or
                      threatens to cause physical harm to another;

             B. Any possession or use of a weapon including look-alike or
                      counterfeit weapons;

             C. Any act of arson or attempted arson and related offenses;

             D. Any act of theft, deliberate destruction of property or
                      participation in any activity at any time which results in
                      damage to school property or to property of others on
                      school property;

             E. Possession, sale use, concealment, transmission or
                      consumption of intoxicating substances, or drugs, or
                      counterfeit or look-alike drugs or intoxicating beverages,
                      or attendance at school-sponsored activities while under
                      the influence of such substances. This includes the
                      prohibition of any Prescription drug or medication which
                      is not possessed by the student in accordance with school
                      policy governing the possession of prescription medication
