Employee Spotlight – Meet Sarah Ptasznik
Ms. Sarah Ptasznik
Ms. Sarah Ptasznik started her career with the Michigan DNR as one of the founding members of the program assistant team. She has been with us since May of 2015. Ourteamof program assistants create, develop and lead the classes and activities we offer; along with ensuring the safety and security of our guests. She has been integral to the development of our classes and
outdoor experiences.
Sarah grew up in Dearborn. Her proud parents are Mike and Cheryl Ptasznik. She loves the reptiles and amphibians of the Michigan and counts her guinea pig, Scooter, as the family pet.
Sarah is a proud Spartan who came to us from Michigan State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in environmental biology/zoology from MSU’s Lyman Briggs College. She has taught at nature venters for the Huron Clinton Metro Authority and the Oakland County Park system.
She is an enthusiastic presence who is at home in the classroom, leading games and engaging our youngest visitors in the wonders of nature.
In her very limited free time Sarah is an avid outdoorswoman who visits our state parks and/or camps there. A nature lover, she loves to walk our beautiful Michigan beaches and explore our forest and wetlands.
When asked what she enjoys most about her position here at the Michigan DNR Outdoor Adventure Center she says, “I like being able to teach kids about nature and seeing the fascination in their eyes as they explore the center.“ We love that Sarah commits to being exciting, engaging and enthusiastic every day.
