INL AND PF
CALEA’s partnership with the
United States Department of
State - Bureau of International
Narcotics and Law Enforcement
Affairs (INL), and the Police
Foundation (PF) continued to thrive throughout the year.
INL provides grant funding to assist Mexican agencies through the accreditation process with technical support from the Police Foundation. The year ended with 39 agencies approved for grant funding and seven grant agencies reached accredited status with CALEA.
The National Police Foundation, with support from CALEA, held Focus Group meetings in Mexico City, Mexico between the months of June and August 2019. The sessions were facilitated discussions on public safety best practices and the impact of accreditation for such agencies in Mexico. Sessions included (1) Monitoring and Evaluation Planning and Survey Development; (2) Challenging Standards; (3) Incident Command System; (4) Communicating Sustainability; and (5) Best Practices in Accreditation. The sessions resulted in the development of tools to support accreditation efforts for Mexico agencies.
CALEA partnered with the NPF and the United
States Department of State - INL in the delivery of a conference for public safety delegates from Mexico. This session occurred in Mexico City and included training on standards compliance strategies, leading agencies through accreditation and the use of standards to address public corruption issues.
CALEA is constantly working to provide resources for the increasing number of Spanish speaking clients.
The CALEA Guide to Successful Accreditation Management was translated to Spanish, CALEA worked Association of Public Safety Communications Officials, International (APCO) to complete the transition of the Spanish Online Accreditation Manager Training.
CALEA and the NPF created a video on the benefits of accreditation for Mexican agencies. The video was narrated by accredited agencies that have successful used accreditation to improve agency operations.
