 WORKING WITH PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
CALEA staff continues to serve on several committees that address best practices in public safety. Some of the relevant committees are:
The International Association of Chiefs of Police Community Policing Committee. The primary purpose of this committee is to study community policing strategies and operations and disseminate best practices in community policing across the US and around the world.
CALEA supported the National Sheriff’s Association (NSA) Education and Training Committee by providing insight on training curriculums for new sheriffs, participating in award recipients selections, and reviewing resolutions on issues impacting the broader public safety community.
The IACP Policy Center Advisory Group. This group meets throughout the year to discuss standards related topics. CALEA also serves on the IACP Policy and Standards Review Committee. The committee discussions result in model policy examples for public safety organizations.
CALEA supported the United States Department of State – Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement in the delivery of training on specialized topics to Mexican public safety officials. This included administrative management of police functions and concepts relevant to internal affairs management.
The ICMA Conference Review Committee. This affiliation creates an opportunity to meet with ICMA regional presidents and staff liaisons in an effort to promote regional awareness of CALEA Accreditation.
REGIONAL ADVISORY BOARD MEETINGS
Regional Advisory Board meetings continue to strengthen client relations and provide insight to how the process is working. Executive Director Hartley facilitates these quarterly meetings which consist of agency command representatives.

US ARMY - TRAINING WITH INDUSTRY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The partnership with the United States Army afforded the Training with Industry Fellowship to continue for the sixth consecutive year. This program has provided military leadership with public safety experience
from a corporate perspective and served as a staff multiplier for the organization.
Captain Charles Mims was the Industry Fellow for 2018-2019. He was replaced by Major Matthew Coyne in July 2019. Each year a new Army Industry fellow is assigned to work with CALEA.
