              gene autry Memorial statue

              Dedicated April 1, 1998
The Gene Autry statue is a life-size bronze piece depicting the longtime Angels
owner, who became a legend in the entertainment industry in a career that
spanned seven decades. Autry’s first steps toward becoming a sports legend
came when he took over the ownership of the Los Angeles Angels expansion
team in 1960, a position he has held for over three decades.
At the base of the statue lay five of Autry’s replica stars from the Hollywood
Walk of Fame. The statue is placed in the Angel Stadium perimeter plaza,
              located just inside Gate 2.
