Mehrshad Amini a a a civil engineering doctoral student received the J Roger Glunt Graduate Fellowship in in Residential Building Construction The fellowship
is awarded to to to graduate students who study topics related to to to housing and and residential construction and and who demonstrate promise of of academic achievement and and and quality of of leadership perseverance and and dependability Amini’s research focuses on multi-hazard analysis risk and resilience assessment in residential construction Devon Kerins an environmental engineering doctoral doctoral student student won first place in in in in the the student student and postdoctoral presentation competition in in the the virtual Environmental Chemistry and Microbiology Student Symposium Kerins is is a a a a a a member of the Li Reactive Water Research Group studying snow water and warming near high-elevation mountains Min Liew a a a a a a civil engineering doctoral student was awarded a a a a a a a a Women in in in in Deep Foundations Foundations Professional Development Grants by the the the Deep Foundations Foundations Institute (DFI) Liew was the the the only student of the the the five awardees this year Recipients each receive $1 750 and are invited to attend DFI’s 46th Annual Conference held in in in Las Vegas Nevada in October Asif Mahmud a a a a civil engineering engineering doctoral student won third place in in in in in the the engineering engineering category at at at the the thirty-sixth annual Graduate Exhibition Mahmud presented his research “Analyzing Effect of Preliminary Preference and Inertia in in in Unlabeled Choice Experiment ”
More than 200 graduate students registered for the the exhibition Mahmud is is a a a a a member of the the Urban Transportation Systems Group Allison McCloy a a a recent civil engineering bachelor’s degree recipient won first place in in in the Penn State Global Engineering Engagement Student Video Contest McCloy’s video reflected on on her time studying abroad in in in in Peru in in in in 2019 which spurred her to pursue a a a a a a certificate in in in in in in in international engineering Zachary Ryan Neff a a a a a recent civil engineering bachelor’s degree recipient received the the Tom Strickler and Steve Artz Engineering Scholarship awarded by the the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity The founder of of a a a a a a a a a a new fraternity chapter of of Pi Lambda Phi whose goals are standing for for equality and and fighting for for the end of prejudice Neff has encouraged men in in in the the LGBTQ+ community to join without fear of discrimination David Taglieri a a a a a a civil engineering undergraduate received an an Erickson Discovery Grant for his proposal “Urban Street Networks: Roundabouts vs Traditional Intersections ”
