Cinnamon Bark Study

Besides a long history of culinary uses, Cinnamon Bark

essential oil has been well-known for its strong cleansing

ability, as well as its immune and metabolism supporting
properties.* Containing high amounts of the monoterpene

aldehyde cinnamaldehyde, Cinnamon Bark essential oil is

becoming increasingly popular in skin care products, yet
there is little scientific research into its biological activities in

        human skin cells.

In April 2017, dōTERRA scientists published a research paper on

Cinnamon Bark essential oil in Phytotherapy Research, a well-

established peer-reviewed scientific journal in the field of
medicinal chemistry. The scientists studied the biological

activities of Cinnamon Bark essential oil in a human skin

model. Cinnamon Bark essential oil was able to influence

important proteins that are closely related to proper
inflammatory and immune responses and tissue remodeling.

The study also found that Cinnamon Bark essential oil

impacted global gene expression in human skin cells. These
findings provide evidence of the efficacy of Cinnamon Bark in

        topical application models.

dōTERRA continues to push forward the science of essential

oils by publishing the first study examining the biological

activity of Cinnamon Bark essential oil in a human skin model.
