Dressage – the art of equestrian sports
Dressage is considered the highest Grand Prix Freestyle
expression of horse education and the Halt
discipline can be described as an art within Collected walk
the equestrian sport. Dressage is the basic Extended walk
work of every other equestrian discipline such Half-pass right (collected trot)
as show jumping and eventing. In dressage, Half-pass left (collected trot)
the horse and the rider perform a series of Extended trot
mandatory exercises, and at Grand Prix level Half-pass right (collected canter)
dressage is an elegant and powerful vision Half-pass left (collected canter)
showing the interaction between horse and Extended canter
rider at the highest level. Flying changes every second stride
(minimum 5 times consecutively)
The Grand Prix tests Flying changes every stride (minimum 9
Dressage competitions take place at all levels times consecutively)

where they compete in Freestyle. In Freestyle
the riders compose their own programmes to
music.
