A Letter Goes A Long Way
Everybody loves getting mail. Especially at camp.
Even with all the technology kids have become so used to, they still love to get letters at camp. We recommend that you mail one or two letters to your camper prior to departure. Having letters from home in the first few days while settling in helps to ease the transition. You may also bring mail to the bus and hand it to one of the counsellors or Directors there. Please make sure that you always include your camper’s full name.
All campers are encouraged to write home three times per week. Unfortunately letters seem to take anywhere from 2 to 8 days to reach home or camp. Whenever possible, we try to mail letters in Toronto, so that you will receive them as promptly as possible. Please send self-addressed, stamped envelopes with your camper, allowing for three per week.
If your child writes home and lets you know that he/she is in the Health Centre, you can feel confident that he/she is receiving the best care and attention. If it is anything out of the ordinary, we will contact you immediately.
If your child tells you that he/she is homesick, you will be understandably concerned. A homesick camper is never left alone. We arrange to keep the camper busy and active with the group. If the homesickness persists more than a few days, we will contact you.
If you receive very brief letters, it is probably because your child is so busy with camp and having such a great time. Don’t worry. Kids love sharing camp stories throughout the year.
If you receive a letter that worries you, do not hesitate to call us. We are probably already aware of any potential issues and can reassure you about the situation and action that we are taking to resolve it.
