Camp Timberlane offers an amazing selection of activities taught by full-time, qualified instructors. Every child, beginner and expert, receives the same level of care and instruction. Counsellors travel with their campers to all activities to ensure that they participate with friends, have fun and experience the thrill of achievement. At Timberlane, we know that some campers, especially younger ones, if given total free choice will shy away from trying new activities. By going with cabin mates, guided by their counsellors and learning from qualified instructors ready to encourage them, your child will gain new skills and interests that he/she will carry for the rest of his/her life. Children will also have the opportunity to elect and specialize in activities of their choice.
While the diversity of our activity program addresses the desires and needs of every camper, there are free periods during each day where campers can further pursue their special interests. This combination enables campers to concentrate on some activities while ensuring that they develop a wide range of camping skills. Our equipment is the best, and our standards of safety and levels of instruction are outstanding for all skill levels.
In addition to our regular daily activities, there are a variety of Evening Programs geared to the interests of each age group.
One and two-day themed programs, carnivals and regattas offer a rich variety to the daily routine, culminating in our traditional OLYMPIAD held at the end of each summer.
Timberlane Activities
Swim Program
Camp Timberlane is now teaching The Lifesaving Society’s 6 Level Swimmer Program exclusively. If your child has been taking swim lessons during the year, we will be able to accommodate his/her current working level, whether it is Red Cross or Lifesaving Programs. Please let us know your child’s current swim level (or the level he/she is working on). Our head of swim will then match them to the Lifesaving level (from 1 to 6) that is most applicable. In preparation for their roles as future Timberlane staff, all CITs participate in Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross certification programs.
Canoe Tripping
Timberlane is recognized and respected
for its extensive Canoe Trip Program.
Every camper, 11 years of age and older,
is given the opportunity to go on at least
one canoe trip, guided by trained and
experienced staff. Using top quality
equipment, we explore the lakes of
Algonquin Park, Killarney and the
Temagami Wilderness. Campers develop
camping and canoeing skills, as well as
knowledge of water safety and how to
read the weather. Most importantly,
campers begin to develop a love of the Canadian outdoors by sitting by the campfire on the edge of a northern lake, paddling under the clear open skies, exploring the deep woods and swimming in clean, untouched waters.
