Chief Medical Advisor: Dr. Ken Melvin and our amazing 2017 dr. Lineup! HEAD NURSES: CINDY POLAN (R.N) & ANDREA LUBURIC (R.N)
From Toronto, Ontario, Cindy is in her 17th summer as the Head Nurse at Camp Timberlane. When Cindy isn’t taking care of the Timberlane campers, she is at home taking care of her four boys; her husband and three sons that all attended Timberlane as well. Her husband, Shy, is an avid visitor, so we consider him a part of the Timberlane family. Cindy loves Timberlane and looking out for the safety and well-being of campers as if they are her own. She loves the people and the atmosphere at Timberlane and watching the kids grow up summer after summer.
From Oakville, Ontario, Andrea is excited to be joining Timberlane’s medical team for her first summer. A graduate of Trent University’s Nursing program, Andrea loves being outdoors, meeting new people and working with and caring for individuals of all ages. Andrea's first experience at camp was at Timberlane in the summer of 2000 as a member of Swim Staff. That summer sparked Andrea’s love of camp and for the next nine summers, she worked at a day camp for children with autism. Andrea is excited to be member of the Camp Timberlane family and can’t wait for the experiences that this summer will bring.
Peanut/Tree Nut Free Policy
Peanut/Tree Nut Free at Camp Timberlane means that our food does not contain peanuts, peanut butter, peanut oil or any form or derivative of peanut or tree nut in the least. Our peanut/tree nut free foods do not contain peanut stearate or "traces of peanut.” Even if the ingredient label reads "May have traces of nuts or peanut," we treat this label as if it read "has nuts or peanuts.”
As a Peanut/Tree Nut Free camp we make every attempt to ensure that no person is placed in a situation and/or environment that may endanger his/her life. We take the following precautions:
✦Every summer, our staff are re-educated about the dangers associated with peanuts and similar nut products to children & adults with severe allergies.
✦Parents of children who have a known allergy to nuts / peanuts are consulted prior to camp with regard to the severity of the childʼs allergy, the symptoms and the emergency procedures to be followed in case of an allergic reaction.
✦Every child with a NUT allergy will carry/have direct access to an Epipen, and all staff are trained on how administer an Epipen. ✦No food of any kind will be allowed to be brought into camp.
