Former mortgage

broker jailed for

4.5 years

A former Calgary mortgage broker was jailed
for 4.5 years after a court found him guilty of 23
counts of theft and fraud last year.

Brandon Antonini, 46, was called “totally unbe-
lievable” by Judge Gordon Wong and said there
were no mitigating factors in the case.

"There was no indication of motive other than
greed," the judge said.

The CBC reports that Antonini showed no re-
morse as he was sentenced for the offences which
took place over 6 months in 2012 and resulted in
mortgage brokerage clients losing $2.4 million in
a fake bridge financing scheme. The mortgages
that investors thought they were funding did not
exist.
