Our Approach to Client Service
Staffing and Communication
Our attorneys work side-by-side with our clients to understand their
businesses and address their needs. We ensure regular open dialogue
with our clients. At the onset of a matter, we outline our proposal
providing assumptions and timing for each phase of a matter. We
provide our clients with regular updates at each stage of the process. If
the scope of the matter changes for any reason, we work with our clients
to adjust accordingly before proceeding.
We strive to control costs by working in a truly collaborative and multi-
disciplinary way to ensure that matters are appropriately staffed at the
right levels with the right people. Further, we assign a single point of
contact for our clients to ensure efficiency and quick response time.
Fee Arrangements
Brouse McDowell appreciates that when you need legal advice, you
have to balance your budget with obtaining the most qualified counsel,
and you don’t want to compromise. That is why we pride ourselves as
being a mid-size firm with a small firm feel, and this includes our billing
structure. With nearly 80 attorneys, Brouse McDowell is large enough
to provide a full range of legal services and small enough to tailor fee
arrangements to our clients’ needs.
We are willing to work with you to discuss a fee arrangement that is
mutually beneficial for both parties. In addition to the standard hourly
rates structure that most law firms use, we also manage a fair amount of
fixed fee arrangements with our health care clients. Additionally, we can
work with you for a retainer amount that meets your needs and provides
you with the amount of legal work that you need. We understand that
the unpredictability of legal expenses can be a deterrent, which is why
we will work with you to facilitate a cost that meets your needs.
Data Security
Brouse McDowell recognizes that maintaining client confidence is critical
to success - for both of us. For health care clients, HIPAA necessitates
an additional security requirement for protected health information
(PHI) beyond the standard security measures typically deployed. As
your business associate, it is critical to stay ahead of technology by
continually maintaining a secure data environment, particularly in a
very mobile tech environment. That is why we incorporate rigorous data
security standards in our firm operations. From anti-malware software
to network security tools, we are continually reviewing our physical
hardware and internal processes to ensure all client data is appropriately
safeguarded. A business associate agreement is one thing; performing
according to the standard is something you should expect from your
health care firm.
