Design
A prominent musician wanted living walls installed
in the music room of his Malibu home. He wanted
a pair of matching walls fitted between windows
into opposite corners, and they could only be
planted with ferns. It required a custom system.
After exploring several ideas, designer Rachel
Hecathorn proposed the use of 3D printing.
Twenty-six custom modules (15 per wall) were
designed and printed. Hecathorn and Joe
Benedetti installed the modules individually,
which fit precisely into the corners. Each was of this spectacular room in the
planted with Ariane ferns, a ruffled upright variety client’s home. Although his
