The Hong Kong General Chamber of Wine and Spirits was established in 2015. We are proudly
entering our fourth year. Looking back to our first year, we established the chamber based on
the principles of courage, forthrightness, highly qualified, all while realizing this was the start
of a long journey. Up to now we have worked to realize our goal of “Unite the industry, Unite
for development.” We are committed to striving for a better business environment for our peers
and promoting our Wine industry development. In order to promote Hong Kong as a regional
wine trade and distribution center, our past activities have included participation in different
regions, Wine & Spirits Series Events and Exhibitions; all to create business opportunities for
our members, while also gaining wide attention in society.
Since 2008, with the Hong Kong Government removal of all customs and administrative con-
trol measures relating to wine, the Hong Kong Wine industry has developed rapidly. In terms of
quantity, in 2017 Hong Kong transacted a total of six million liters of wine of which about two
to four million liters were re-exported to other markets. China’s booming economy, growing
social prosperity and changing lifestyles has increased the demand for wine & spirits. Under
this favorable sash, the volume of wine exported is supported by the government’s co-opera-
tion with the mainland customs to facilitate wine clearance. The “One Belt and One Road” is
an important strategy of China and a major opportunity for the future development of Hong
Kong. HKGCWS will continue “building the bridge” to help Wine & Spirits merchants’ prod-
ucts entered the mainland market. More cooperation, more exchanges, and added member
opportunity.
In the future, to cope with diversified development, we also need to cultivate high-quality work-
ers in the industry to maintain Hong Kong’s competitiveness and embrace the wave of global
integration. In view of this, we are committed to providing educational services in the “teaching
and education of the liquor and catering industry”.
The group’s business is all about success, and everyone’s career is a victory. It is General Sec-
retary Xi Jinping’s expectations and guidance for Hong Kong society. We need to keep this in
mind and do everything we can to unite the industry, work together to enhance the status of the
industry, promote the development of the industry, and jointly build a good wine industry for
everyone.
