Addresses the need for a regional facility capable of housing events ranging from groups of 10
to groups of 1,000+ specifically within medical, educational, religious, and social organizations.
Additionally, the Center will provide accommodations for mobile food units, caterers, food producers,
                and other food-based business entrepreneurs.

               Bottom Line
The only facility of its type in eastern North Carolina capable of energizing the local food economy while addressing
food insecurity in our region. Food insecurity is defined as households with an inadequate supply of food and
nutrition. The USDA has declared parts of Edgecombe County as a food desert. Food insecurity impacts childhood
health and wellness, academic achievement, school readiness, and is associated with substance abuse. In adults,
food insecurity is associated with higher risk for chronic diseases and a greater predisposition towards mental
               health issues.
