Words from Senior Pastor & Chairman
In 2015, with the help of over 500 individual contributors, foundations, and the local talent of
companies like Barnhill Construction, SE&M Constructors, and Oakley Collier Architects, Word
Tabernacle Church initiated the largest shared use building project of its kind in the state of
North Carolina. We called it Project Thrive — a strategic solution to alter the social and economic
landscape of eastern North Carolina. This project offered a plan for the creation of a rural
ecosystem providing opportunities for residents along every socio-economic status. Phase I was
such a success that UNC Chapel Hill City & Regional Planning Economic Development Workshop
in partnership with NC Growth conducted a study and concluded, “The Impact Center will have a
marked positive economic and fiscal impact on Nash County NC. The project will generate $17 million in
economic support and 72 direct jobs...”
This is your opportunity to participate in the next and final phase of this building re-use project,
The Campaign to Thrive — to complete renovation of a 125, 500 square foot facility that houses 9
independent, yet collaborative, Centers working toward regional transformation. The Centers are:
• Center for Capacity Building • Center for Health & Wellness
• Center for Childhood Literacy & Development • Center for Leadership Development
• Center for College & Career Readiness • Center for Media & Broadcast
• Center for Culinary Arts & Hospitality • Center for Performing Arts & Worship
• Center for Faith, Family, & Personal Development
Through this campaign and with your help, we will impact Rocky Mount and eastern North
Carolina for generations to come.
“... North Carolina’s largest
Sincerely, shared use building project
James D. Gailliard of its kind.”
