The Log Cabin
The oldest part of the Glenfiddich property is the original log cabin dating back to 1767. The log cabin was originally a one room cabin with a loft and today is still in its original location just to the left of the main house. This quaint cabin is a two-story brick structure with original logs embedded into the walls and authentic rafters. The beveled, hand-blown glass windows are also a feature to be marveled.
Since its construction there have been many renovations made including the construction of a hallway connecting the log cabin to the main house accompanied by a bath, kitchen and pantry. In the 1970’s the owner, Mr. Trone, made renovations to the log cabin by refinishing the loft area and adding sliding doors to the cabin.
Even with some 20th century renovations made, this historic log cabin is home to a coffee table that is the oldest piece in the house dating back to the 16th century and was originally used as a litter carrier. This room also features a Post Office table from the Bluemont Post Office dating back to the 1800’s and a maple side board dating back to 1792.
