These are all actually the same thing, but because people enter names in different ways, it becomes difficult to maintain consistency. Using the Term Store, you can enter the term as “Human Resources Department” and know that every place throughout SharePoint that uses this field will enter it in a consistent way when referring to that specific department.
Managing apps
SharePoint apps are widgets of packaged features that can be added to SharePoint. SharePoint apps are also called SharePoint add-ins, because they add functionality to SharePoint. SharePoint includes a store where you can find and install apps into your environment.
Using the SharePoint apps management page, you can manage the purchasing and licensing of apps and configure SharePoint store settings such as turning off the ability of end users to purchase apps in the store. You can also monitor apps that you have installed, and set permissions on apps so that you have full control on who is allowed to use which particular apps.
The SharePoint apps management page is shown in Figure 20-9.
In addition to the configuration information discussed in this section regarding Office 365, you also have full access to configuring the site collection within SharePoint. SharePoint is deserving of a book unto itself. A good place to start is SharePoint 2019 For Dummies by Rosemarie Withee and Ken Withee.
