Dr. Tomlin Paul caps the Chancellor and says:
“SIR, MY COLLEAGUES AND I ASK YOU TO RECEIVE AS GRADUATE MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY THESE PERSONS PRESENT, WHO HAVING FULFILLED THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY HAVE BEEN ADMITTED TO THE DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE OR BACHELOR OF MEDICINE AND BACHELOR OF SURGERY OR BACHELOR OF MEDICAL SCIENCES OR BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES OR NURSING OR PHYSICAL THERAPY OR DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING OR DOCTOR OF DENTAL SURGERY OR DOCTOR OF VETERINARY MEDICINE OF THIS UNIVERSITY.”
THE CHANCELLOR says:
“BY THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME, I RECEIVE THESE PERSONS WHOSE NAMES ARE ABOUT TO BE CALLED, AND THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND, AS GRADUATE MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY.”
The presentation of graduates follows.
The Valedictorian’s Address
Following the presentation of graduates, the Chancellor calls on the Class Valedictorian to address the Company, saying:
“I NOW CALL ON THE CLASS VALEDICTORIAN, DR. JOSHUA WRIGHT, BACHELOR OF MEDICINE AND BACHELOR OF SURGERY WITH DISTINCTION, TO DELIVER THE VALEDICTORY ADDRESS.”
Dr. Joshua Wright addresses the Company and returns to his seat. The Ceremony continues with the Award of Higher Degrees.
