His partner Christian Bergh, on the other hand, was born in Malmo Caroli on September 10, 1793 and was the son of the bookkeeper, later farmer Petter Bergh and Christina Ifversson. He had been employed as a bookkeeper for many years with the fraudulent discount trader Henrik Falkman before joining forces with Barkman."
Barkman and Bergh immediately took several necessary repairs of the old trading hall in the corner property at number 354. Among other things, they moved the entrance to the house itself in April-May 1820 according to a plan drawn up by master mason Anders Lundberg on April 18th of that month. On April 24th, this plan was approved by the magistrate, with the comment on the importance of making the facade portal of the large staircase more beautiful. As a result, the well-known high built-in staircase was created, which was removed in 1910 during the conversion and remodeling of the shop into the current exhibition space, now owned by Elektriska Aktiebolaget Chr. Bergh & Co."
