2006 Breeders' Cup World Championships Contender Profiles
Open House for Gone Fishin
Hillside Thoroughbreds, in the Niagara Region, hosted a two day Open House for the new stallion, Gone Fishin on September 16 and 17.
With the slogan, “Don’t Breed Your Mares til You’ve ‘Gone Fishin’”, owners Steve and Shirley Wells of
Stone Briar Stables are eagerly anticipating the upcoming
breeding season, “He’s ready to go for 2007.” said the enthusiastic Shirley, “We have stakes producing mares already lined up.”
The Wells’ purchased the stallion from a nearby farm where he had been retired after racing, “We tested him at Pedro’s and he has a very high count.” said Shirley.

Lady, by Exuberant, had an
impressive race record and was
trained by Todd Pletcher in the U.S. and Mike Doyle in Canada for owner Dogwood Stables.
He raced from age 2 to 8 amassing an impressive record of 7 wins, 10 seconds and 7 thirds in 60 starts. He won the G3 Jaipur Stakes at Belmont at age 4 in 2000, and fin- ished second in the G2 Nearctic Handicap and the G3 Play The King Handicap at Woodbine that same year. He also placed in the 2002 G3 Connaught Cup, the G3 Play
The King Handicap in 2002 at Woodbine as well as the 2002 G3 Aegon Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs.
He retired in 2004 with earnings of more than $490,000.

In the weeks leading to the Breeders´ Cup, the profile pages will be updated with prep race results and injury reports plus new horses will be added as needed. When the pre-entries are announced after October 25, Horse-Races.Net will have every pre-entered horse featured, and the list will be updated again at the conclusion of the post position draw on Wednesday November 1 to include the correct starting posts and race order.
