In an effort to encourage fans and create awareness for the edgling apprentice, Jorge took to social media with the slogan “Put a Twoonie on Twomey” however it would be the signi cance of the numeral one that would come to play in Hannah’s rst career win.
The young woman from Red Lake, Ontario who decided at age 11 that she wanted to become a jockey, won her 1st race on her 11th starter on the 11th day of the 11th month. Her win was aboard the Ross Armata trained 3 year-old lly Show Me the Prize for owner Arthur Amos.
“I knew I had won but the feeling never really hit me until the next day,” recalls Hannah when asked to describe the win, “Coming around the turn I knew I had a shot. The way she responded coming up to the wire I was getting a little excited and had to refocus on my riding.”
The following week Hannah was photographed again aboard third race winner Light My Path for trainer Scott Fairlie and owner Ace Racing Stable Inc. and Katrin Schaffenrath.
Like most apprentice riders Hannah will stop riding before the end of the Woodbine meet should she win 2 more in an effort to save her 10lb advantage for next season.
After the Woodbine meet both Jorge and Hannah will be following the horses to Florida taking an opportunity to stay in shape working for trainer Roger Att eld at Payson Park for the winter.
At the time of print Hannah has 2 wins, 3 seconds and 5 thirds in 40 starts.
