Training at Fort Erie Race Track
Outrider pony Walter keeps a watchful eye on the morning trainees.
Fort Erie Race Track opened its doors for racing on June 16, 1897. The  rst race winner at the track was Ellesmere whose owners received $300 as the winner’s share of the purse.
Opening day May 30, 2017 will be the start of 120 years of racing at the border oval.
Trainer Norm Tomlinson washes and hangs horse bandages after morning training in Fort Erie.
Norm has been training since 1999 and after taking on other commitments at the track the last couple of years he is back with 5 horses in training for 2017.

his Quarterhorse pony Walter. A Fort Erie native, Antonietta is approaching her  rst full year in her position at the track. John has been an outrider at Fort Erie since 2001 and this will be the third year on the job for Walter.
