2009 is an election year for the Board of Directors of the Ontario Horsemen’s Benevolent Protective Association (HBPA). All Owners and Trainers and current HBPA Members can stay informed and be eligible to vote by providing the HBPA with your name, address and email address (if applicable).
The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Ontario Division), is gearing up for its 27th Annual Awards, which take place on Friday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lionhead Golf & Country Club in Brampton, Ontario.

In addition to celebrating the Ontario-Bred champions of 2008, the event will honour Adena Springs as Breeder of the Year and the late Morgan Firestone as the recipient

The Horsemen’s Benevolent Protective Association (HBPA) provides horsepeople with a collective voice and representation during purse negotiations with racetracks, when dealing
with Federal and Provincial Governments, Ontario Racing Commission Steward and appeal hearings as well as contracts and rules and regulations.
Fort Erie Post Time Change
To allow west coast simulcasts more access to racing and wagering at Fort Erie Race Track, the  rst race post-time will be changing to 1:45pm on Sunday, June 7 (subject to regulatory approval). Live thoroughbred racing at Fort Erie is held Sunday through Tuesday until the end of October as well as on Saturday, July 4.
Sunday, July 12, Fort Erie Race Track will once again host their biggest race of the season, the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes, the second jewel of Canada’s Triple Crown.

Two other stakes are scheduled for that day, the $50,000 Daryl Wells Sr. Memorial Stakes and the $50,000 Ernie Samuel Memorial Stakes.
