He began training on his own in 2007 with his most notable winner being Stakes Placed, Lady D’Wildcat. Today Steve is a jockey agent for James McAleney at Woodbine (my daughter’s favourite jockey even before my brother became his agent).
The Roberts Family:
My Dad, Les Roberts, would take us to the races at Woodbine as children. Dad had always dreamed of owning racehorses and became involved in 1984 with a horse named Russian History (long story) and then formed a syndicate with three friends (Four by Five Farms) all under the guidance of trainer Tommy O’Keefe. During the late 1990’s and into the 2000’s they enjoyed success with horses such as Wings of Erin, Inspired Kiss, Masada and Mulrainy to name a few. Steve and I began working with Tommy in the barn on the backstretch and guratively speaking have not left the track since. ~ Stacie Roberts
