Former Fort Erie track announcer, Daryl Wells Jr. (second from right) makes the presentation to the winning connections of Archers Alyancer in the Daryl Wells Sr. Memorial Stakes which is a dedication to his late father on July 2 at Fort Erie Race Track. Archers Alyancer is owned by Dennis Payer, trained by John Simms and was ridden to victory by jockey Justin Stein.
Jockey Justin Stein’s wife Renee and their son Owen were at Fort Erie to cheer him on. Justin was the winner of the Daryl Wells Sr. Memorial Stakes after picking up the mount when Patrick Husbands was delayed in traffic. Justin also rode Sweet Breanna to a second place finish in the $250,000 Labatt Bison City Stakes later that day.
Kimchi, owned by Seasoft Stable is lead into the winners enclosure at Fort Erie on July 2 by trainer Mark Casse with Jockey Patrick Husbands in the irons. Kimchi captured two legs of the Triple Tiara series after winning the Labatt Woodbine Oaks on June 11. Unfortunately she was unable to capture the third jewel in the series, finishing fourth in the Wonder Where Stakes at Woodbine on July 29.
